Burn Up The Track!

We have seen an increase in street take-overs here in Southern California recently. This has prompted local District Attorney’s offices to make a charge to “Take it to the track”. Question is, where are the tracks. Orange County, arguably the home of sanctioned Drag Racing has NO tracks in the county. Racers go to Los Angeles, Riverside, or San Diego Counties for legal racing. Not an excuse for street racing, just stating a fact. In our quest of searching for more fun with our vehicles we found interesting sources.

The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has created a series of races for novices and proficient veterans to enjoy.

SCCA Road Racing is wheel-to-wheel, side by side, first one to the finish line is the winner automobile racing – driven, officiated and staffed by SCCA club members. No matter who you are – beginner or proficient veteran - there are opportunities across the country for drivers and computer-savvy, tech-savvy, intense, or relaxed people who want to be involved in motorsports to participate on track, off track and track side all while making friends along the way. Most of all, SCCA Road Racing is a place for those who want to have a motorsports adventure surrounded by hundreds of like-minded people.

GPR Autosport

We are following the crew at GPR Autosport on their quest in the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour. They have prepped their Mazda RX7 for the GT2 class and will be competing throughout the season with Burns Stainless lightweight mufflers.

Manufacturer Sponsored Racing

A few weeks back we wrote about the Porsche Racing Experience and One-Make racing program. Mazda offers similar programs with four different racing series: Roadster Party Race, Mazda Fan Circuit Trial, Mazda Fan Endurance Race and the grand-daddy; Global MX-5 Cup which requires a JAF A-Class License.

Ford also has their enthusiast program with programs throughout the states. “Ponies In The Smokies” (PITS) is a 3-day event wtigh car show, cruising through the beautiful Smoky Mountains, BFG Driving School, Autocross and Drag Racing to name a few of the event features. Details HERE
