I race vintage cars, and after a high end rebuild on a Cosworth BDG, I was dissatisfied with the drivability in the midrange of the engine. I did some research and talked with fellow racers, as well as the engine builder. I was informed this type of engine suffers from low intake charge velocity due to large ports and intake valves (the very reason it’s so strong at high RPMs) I realized that new header would be in order to hopefully aid with scavenging.
I had seen the Burns stainless web site before but never looked into it in depth. Once I saw the custom header design section I reached out to Vince. Vince was very receptive and offered to help. I filled out the race engine spec form and the process began. Vince offered advice via email. I had several questions so I telephoned the office expecting to be sent to voice mail, however I was immediately transferred to Vince who answered. He was patient, listening my needs and the design became something that should produce the results I’m looking for.
I didn’t realize that Vince is the owner, once I found that out I was even more impressed that he took the time to discuss my needs and spend time he did with me. Customer service is a true rarity these days, but Vince delivered in spades. Thanks!!
