As we all move into the new year, many of us do so with some trepidation. Who can blame you? 2020 ushered in contested elections, protests, global pandemics, and economic uncertainties. 2021 was a continuation of the same. As we look at 2022, we may look with fear, or at least cynicism to what is ahead. One way to combat this is through the old tradition of resolutions.
New Year resolutions go as far back as ancient Babylon when a common resolution was to return borrowed farm equipment to its owner. In Roman times, it was evolved into promises of good behavior. Today, resolutions range from promises to “lose weight” to “getting organized” or “starting a financial budget.” One of the best resolutions I read was to “enjoy life to the fullest.”
So, instead of entering the new year with fear and trepidation, resolve to enjoy life to the fullest.
And what is the best way to do that? Well, one way is to get a new motorcycle!
In 2021, Harley Davidson introduced its new entry into the adventure riding market, the Pan America. With a 1250 cc 60-degree V-Twin engine of clean sheet design and phenomenal performance, adjustable height suspension and a sexy look, the Pan America has turned many heads. The 2021 Pan America sold out quickly, but not before we got our hands on one. I began riding dirt bikes as a kid. Later I rode sport bikes, and most recently have enjoyed my 2017 Road Glide Special. The Pan America has brought the characteristics of each of these bikes together into a great package.
But like many of you, it did not check all the boxes. For one thing, the bike sounds like a sewing machine.
