Three NhB Styles Available For Your Bike

Megaphone Muffler Style – This mid-length system is all about delivering serious performance, extending just ahead of the stock axle to give you unmatched power. Get ready to feel the boost in midrange torque and impressive top-end horsepower that’ll take your ride to the next level. Built for versatility, this exhaust system works seamlessly with both standard and long (CVO) bags. Elevate your bike with the ultimate in racing exhaust technology.

Road Race Style – Performance Bagger Exhaust System:
The Road Race performance bagger system is built for riders who live for that track-ready power and precision. Designed for bikes with mid-controls, this system delivers where it matters. The 1-7/8” to 2” to 2-1/8” stepped pipes wind around the cam cover, hugging the engine and frame to give you the ground clearance you need to tackle those tight canyon curves.

With our X-design program behind it, this pipe is all about mid-range power, giving you that torque boost right when you need it most. We’ve also added our ultra-light exhaust muffler with a turnout—keeping your ride light and powerful. And when the packing finally gives out, don’t worry—the repackable muffler keeps your ears safe while delivering the same killer performance.

The Extended Style (EXT) – This full-length system is all about keeping that classic long exhaust look while making sure the sound stays where it belongs—behind you. While it might give up a bit of midrange torque and top-end horsepower compared to the Megaphone style, it still packs plenty of punch. Designed to work with both standard and long (CVO) bags, this exhaust system offers the perfect blend of style and functionality for a ride that looks as good as it performs.

Trim Options

Standard – This is our standard system designed to fit Milwuakee-8 engines with stock style cylinder heads.  The pipe is a 2” + 2-1/8” + 2-1/8” OD primaries combined with a 3” megaphone collector. Our system uses the largest first step possible using the Harley port design. The system is a floating design that incorporates our exclusive CNC stub system, oversized flange and aerospace locking nuts.

VST – Our VST system is our newest system intended for 121 cid to 135 cid builds.  The pipe is a 1-7/8” + 2+ + 2-1/8” OD primaries combined with a 3” megaphone collector. This pipe is intended to maximize the area under the power curve and minimize low-rpm dead spots that larger exhaust may cause. This is an excellent choice for the new CVO-ST model. Our initial testing has shown a 15-hp gain with this pipe and Screaming Eagle tuner. The pipe will support builds with 190hp or more. The system is a floating design the incorporates uses our exclusive CNC stub system, oversized flange and aerospace locking nuts.

WTF – This system is designed for the Ward Performance latest square port heads.  The flanges are welded to the primaries to maximize flow out of the cylinder heads. The system retains the stock mounting stud location and comes with our narrow fasteners to accommodate the big 2” pipe. This is normally used for the M8 Gen-1cylinder heads. The Gen-2 "center-cooled" heads cannot typically be ported to take advantage of the full 1.875" inside diameter of the WTF system due to the cooling passages.

Open – This high-horsepower system is designed for experienced track riders who prioritize top-end power. It is not muffled, resulting in loud exhaust and compromised low-end torque. Though it is the most challenging system to tune correctly, it will produce the best horsepower at high revs.  It remains compatible with both standard and long (CVO) bags. Elevate your racing performance with the unmatched power of the Open Meg style exhaust.

Additional Options:

Heat Shield – Includes a stainless-steel heat shield that partially covers the rear exhaust primary. The shield is supplied with two worm gear clamps for easy and secure installation.

Black Ceramic Coating – Our high-temperature ceramic coating enhances the appearance of your exhaust while minimizing heat transfer. It helps retain energy in the exhaust gases for optimal scavenging. Additionally, the inside of the exhaust features a non-stick copper coating that reduces carbon deposits on the walls, ensuring maximum exhaust flow. Gray is also available by special order—please call.

Details

Proper Port Fitting Design

Due to the high velocity at the exhaust port, it is imperative that the flow be unobstructed. We have seen as much as a 5% loss of power for poorly matched headers and ports. To ensure proper flow, Burns has designed port fittings that properly align the exhaust header to the port. Also, the exacting dimensions of the fitting allows for better, more repeatable fabrication ensuring a proper fit on the motorcycle. On the Milwaukee 8 system, we have engineered a CNC machined fitting to improve the fitment of the pipes.

Stepped Primaries

By keeping the header size close to the exhaust port size, exhaust gas velocity is kept high at the port reducing the possibility of reversion. This is especially important with the unequal firing impulses inherent to the V-Twin single pin crank arrangement. Enlarging the tube with stepped pipes ensures that wall drag losses are minimized keeping the exhaust potential available for maximum power but also allowing for broad power band.

Collector Design

The 2-into-one collector helps minimize exhaust reversion while helping to scavenge the exhaust cylinder during each exhaust cycle. The efficient scavenging of the cylinder during the exhaust and overlap period allows for the maximum amount of air and fuel in the cylinder assuring maximum power.

Muffler

The Burns megaphone muffler provides the Pro-Stock appearance of the exhaust while maximizing performance and reducing the sound of the exhaust. The deep, mellow sound is a by product of the specially designed core perforations.

The small holes provide effective damping of sound waves while allowing for a smooth bore minimizing drag losses and improving power output.

NHB Exhaust

Received my NHB exhaust and IMMEDIATELY took off from work to install it on my 21 Road Glide Special. I had my bike tuned with a Sawicki Speed shorty, so tuning was a bit off for the full length. Got my bike tuned and the difference is astounding. Stock was 88hp and 111tq. Tuned with the short pipe, 475 cam and intake was 115 and 124tq. Returned with the Burns Stainless and it is 111hp and 139tq. This exhaust made a HUGE difference in top end. I love it!!!
